Broccoli Sprouts and Heirloom Tomato Sandwich

So, broccoli sprouts are a go-to for me, and good thing too. Broccoli sprouts contain a chemical called sulforaphane which is one of the most potent antioxidants and detoxification substances that we know of. Adding sulforaphane to the diet has shown to greatly reduce the risk of stomach, bladder, colorectal, and breast cancers. Not to mention that they taste great and are the perfect topper for any meal. Now this sandwich is simple but has a strong taste.


  • 2 Slices of a sturdy bread (this is a rosemary and olive oil bread from fresh market)
  • Yellow heirloom tomato
  • sweet onion
  • broccoli sprouts
  • salt and pepper
  • mayo

Now, I’m not going to go into how to make a sandwich. You are capable, I believe in you. I will say however, that these heirloom tomatoes are amazing. There are many different kinds, but I think the yellow has a great taste; which is why they are my first choice for this sandwich. It also makes a big difference when you use a fresh baked bread. Fresh Market is my go to shop for fresh breads because they make amazing flavor combos.
